FEMA REQUIRES MORE MODERNIZED EQUIPMENT TO TACKLE DISASTERS
The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency FEMA has said it needs more equipment especially modernized ones to better carry out it’s duties.
The Deputy Director of the department of forecasting, response and mitigation of the Agency Mrs Florence Wenegieme disclosed this while responding to a question on the challenges of disaster management on a live interview on Television Programme in Abuja.
She reiterated the agency’s commitment to sensitisation while stating that more funds were required to reach the nooks and crannies of the FCT.
Emphasizing that “sensitisation is the most innovative tool to prevent disaster” Mrs Wenegieme said all hands must be on deck to ensure that FCT residents are adequately sensitised.
Mrs Wenegieme further urged FCT residents to pay heed to the sensitisation efforts of the agency and to stop ignoring early warning signs put out by FEMA.
She also highlighted the agency’s operation Eagle Eye which is focused on creating awareness about the dangers of the dry season, road crashes and house fires and urged FCT residents to be more vigilant and careful during this season.
